Cover
As a scaffolder, you carry risk across every stage of the job, from planning and assembling scaffolding to dismantling equipment and completing the work. A single incident can cause property damage, injure workers or third parties, or leave you facing a costly claim. From falls and structural failures to damaged equipment and project delays, the right insurance program helps protect your business when things don't go to plan.
Ferguson Brown specialises in the construction, property and development sectors, so we understand how scaffolding risks can change from one project to the next. Whether you provide scaffolding for residential builds, renovations, commercial projects or as a subcontractor, we can help structure cover around the work you actually do.

Working at height creates risks for workers, subcontractors and visitors, with accidents potentially leading to costly claims.
Scaffolding structures can be damaged by weather, impact, misuse or other incidents while installed on a project site.
Scaffolding installation, movement or dismantling can accidentally damage a client's property, existing structures or surrounding areas.
Incorrect assembly, installation issues or unexpected structural problems can result in injuries, property damage and costly claims.
Scaffolding components, tools and equipment can be stolen, damaged or lost while working on or travelling between sites.

Insurance and licensing considerations for scaffolders:

1. Development Consent
2. Building Bond or LDI
3. Off-the-Plan Disclosure
Before work begins, most developments need consent from the relevant council or planning authority, along with any conditions attached to that approval.
In NSW, developers of residential buildings four storeys or more must lodge a building bond under the Strata Building Bond and Inspections Scheme, or arrange approved Latent Defects Insurance as an alternative for eligible buildings.
Selling before completion means preparing a compliant disclosure statement and notifying buyers of material changes, with rules varying by state and new bond regimes emerging, including Victoria's from July 2026.
